The Incredible Shrinking House

 

After being on a miniature hiatus for a few months, I decided it was time to jump back in with both feet.

I recently moved into an apartment. It's hard enough to try to organize your miniatures, but have you ever tried moving them? WOW! I quickly learned how much crap I have and how much I don't need in my new smaller space. I may be having a small on-line garage sale.

Here is the Glenwood as we know it (without the porch)

I have parted ways with one dollhouse, but I can't let this one go. It is too large to stay at it is, but with some major changes, the heart of the house will still be there.

 

By removing the addition, I will gain a lot of space.

 

The basement will have to be adjusted to match the length of the house.

To also save on space, I would like downsize this table.

 

The billiards room will be moved to the basement and the master bedroom will go in its place.

Down Sizing

Before I decided a makeover was in order for the Glenwood, I added 'gravel' to the driveway.

In my last post I shared all the imperfections I found, including the fascia on the Glenwood. I removed the trim/fascia to adjust it so it will be flush with the shingles.

Eventually all the fascia will be adjusted. I will have to tape off and cover the entire house so the roof can be resprayed.

This is the last photo taken of the house with the full yard, garage and driveway.

Garage has been removed and tucked away in the closet for now.

Looking at it now, it really bothers me that the basement is larger than the main portion of the house. That will need to be fixed.

Whoever made the basement did a crappy job!  (me)

Temporary home for the house until a sufficient coffee table can be found.

It was easier to remove the sloppily made (by me) basement after flipping the table over.

Yes, I glue a lot of the furniture and accessories down for two reasons - Dakoda and my cat tend to take off with my pieces.

Removed the legs and hardware from the table.

I am keeping the foundation of the playground and plan to build a room box around it.

The Glenwood yard will not be large enough for my fall tree, but it might work if I change the playground to a park.

With the mulch being easily accessible, I was able to clean it up and added more mulch to fill in the gaps.

Once I find a table that jumps out at me, I will place the original base on the table and cut it down to a suitable size.

 

On a side note - I have been working out a lot doing Zumba with my friends.

This couple is the one that started me in Zumba about 4 years ago. Angie is my dear friend and her husband William teaches. Some of us girls will travel out of town to workout with them once a week.

Catching Up

 

Slowly but surely I am plugging away at my to do list.

This is a close up of the Hawaiian themed paper. It is a little loud, but if I need to, I can tone it down with wainscoting.

I covered up the window to place the vanity as a focal point. There are a lot of nice pieces on the shelves, and I would like them displayed clearly.  I have to ask my hubby to print me one more piece of paper to finish the wall. I am also noticing the blue in the tiles does not match at all. They can probably be painted them to make it more neutral.

 

Added the rest of the mulch to the playground.

 

With some left over mulch, I added to Koda's bungalow.

 



 

Replanted the flowers in the Glenwood's yard. Once the glue dries I can adjust them and clean up the dirt.

Yesterday was Koda's fist day of junior high. She is getting so big. So is Luna!

 

I have started back up on the Zumba kick again. These are the girls I have been working out with.

 (I am in the green tank)

Mini Time!

Been able to get a few things done today on miniatures, plus I have some time off this week to get things done.

 

 Here is some of the progress:

 

I papered the little girls room in the Victorianna.

Started to dress the bed and added carpet.

 

In my Grandma's house a bedroom was updated.

Hung Koda's little fairy above the bed and put her curtains up.

 

In the Glenwood's attic some more books were placed on the shelves and I added the typewriter that came from my Aunt's belongings.

 

Also added the fan that was my Aunt's.

 

In the Glenwood's main bathroom I had to move the door over to the left so I could fit the double sink in. I will need to get a couple medicine cabinets to go over each sink. Those will cover up the holes where the lights were placed.

Tub is almost full for a relaxing bath!
